Mills College Book Art Pocket Gallery, 2014. 2-Person exhibit with Keri Miki-Lani Schroeder.
“Exhibited here are “oddments,” remnants of the process of creation. I’ve recently been exploring parallel relationships, or how two entities, born of the same intention, become separate. What makes one the perfect object and the other a leftover, a piece to be discarded? This exhibit highlights not only the process of creation but also the relationship between what is showcased and what is hidden.” -Ariel Hansen Strong, Exhibition Statement
Finished artist’s books encased in vitrines, and a collage of leftover or test prints held within a hanging flat file drawer. A small waste bin filled with free collage booklets was placed below the drawer, with a sign reading “Please Recycle.”
